When to visit Rishikesh: seasons at a glance
9 October 2026 · 3 min read
Rishikesh can be visited through much of the year, but the weather changes what you will enjoy most. This is a general guide. For your exact dates, ask our concierge what is running.
Spring (February to March)
Mild and pleasant, good for walking, cafes and yoga by the river.
Summer (April to June)
Days can be hot. Mornings and evenings are comfortable, and the river is a welcome place to be, which makes this a popular time for rafting and other water activities.
Monsoon (July to mid-September)
Heavy rain and a high river. Rafting and some other outdoor activities are generally paused in these months, but the hills are green and the town is quieter.
Post-monsoon (mid-September to November)
Fresh, green and comfortable, and many people consider this one of the best times to visit as activities start up again.
Winter (December to January)
Cold mornings and nights with sunny days. Pack warm layers, and expect a quieter, slower Rishikesh.
Seasons and river conditions vary from year to year, so always check with us before you plan around a specific activity.
